SmartBoard Notepad

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with using a SmartBoard, but they can be such an amazing tool in the classroom. If used effectively and appropriately, SmartBoards can reach all kinds of learners. Notepad is a special program that is used with SmartBoard and it has such amazing tools. It is similar to Powerpoint in that it has different "pages" or "slides," but it easy to use and very clear. Notepad has a gallery that not only has photos and videos, but it has interactive math games and materials, speeches, entire lessons, etc. I understand that not everyone will be able to use Notepad, but if you have heard of it, or if you have it in your classroom but don't know how to use it, this is a plea!! It is amazing! Fiddle around with it and teach yourself, or have a colleague teach you, or go to a workshop! I wish I could post a Notepad document to our blog, but I am not quite sure how I would do that.

Anybody else love Notepad??

  2. I read your post and was in total agreement. I briefly had access to a SmartBoard (before my school audited its storage locker and came looking for it). I found that I was able to engage students who normally remained on the periphery during lessons or discussions. I also found it to be a way to integrate technology in my classroom in a capacity that fostered students' critical thinking. Additionally, I watched as my students' behavior improved dramatically (my students were all categorized as severe emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disturbed), which was quite a testament. While I tried to create experiences to replace this, I had little luck. For teachers who do have access to this technology, I recommend it highly!
