It is very common for students to have some confusion over the difference between a concept and a topic. A concept is word or phrase that embeds a great deal of understanding, and can be understood on multiple cognitive levels from the very naive to the very sophisticated. While Institutions is technically a concept, I would ask that for the purpose of this class, we only look at Taba's Social Studies concepts, because they establish a commonality to our work that helps us to think on similar planes and help each other.
